What ages do you teach?

8yrs and upwards.

Where are you based?

Harborne, Birmingham. B32 2EG. Opposite the Court Oak pub.

How much do you charge?

My current fee is £25 for a one hour, one to one lesson.

Do you teach 30 minute lessons?

No. I find this is too short to be beneficial to the student.

How do you teach?

I don't believe in following a book from start to finish. The lessons are tailored around you. Whether you want to come and learn to play a few simple acoustic songs, or just learn to play the solo to Bohemian Rhapsody, there are methods to get there that are quite different in some ways and similar in others. There is no real point in learning a load of scales if you want to strum a few Coldplay songs.

What do you teach?

Electric and Acoustic Guitar. I teach a wide range of styles including Rock, Funk, Blues, Metal and Jazz. I can also show you the theory behind what you are playing, so you can actually apply what you learn.

Do you travel?

It is my policy to generally teach from my premises. If I were to travel the costs would rise greatly due to time lost and fuel used. I have a lot of equipment on hand to enrich the learning experience here, internet, printing, amplifiers, books, a computer, even spare strings and tools if needed.

Do you teach Bass Guitar?

Yes, up to an intermediate level. In my first year as a lecturer at AMS, as well as teaching guitar and a variety of subjects, I also wrote and taught the first term's bass guitar course.

Couldn't I just learn using the internet?

It is feasible, however there are problems with this approach. The internet has no overall quality control, anyone is free to post a 'tab' or a video, this doesn't mean they are inherently doing a good or accurate job. There is also no feedback available to you. How would you know if you are using incorrect technique? Even your posture can affect whether you can play properly. As a supplementary tool it can be very beneficial, but not alone.

Am I too old to learn the guitar?

You are never to old to learn guitar and experience the simple pleasure of playing music. Success and fulfilment depend on how much time you can devote to practicing more than any other factor.

What is your cancellation policy?

I respectfully ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel a lesson. Failure to do so may result in the full fee being due.

Can you provide gift vouchers?

I can provide a voucher for multiple lessons if purchased as a gift. The terms and conditions are presented below.

Terms and Conditions for Gift Voucher

1. Vouchers cannot be refunded once purchased.

2. Vouchers are non-transferable except in the following circumstances:
a. Voucher is purchased as a gift for a person who is designated at time of purchase.

3. All vouchers are valid for 1 year from purchase date
